Our Mission & Vision
The Village Ministry Center is community of Christians seeking to be the presence of Christ in the center of Convoy, Ohio. The VMC’s mission is to establish Christ-centered relationships with village residents through various programs, classes & other opportunities as offered by VMC staff and volunteers. Our vision is to see in Convoy strengthened families, empowered people, & encouraged faith.
Impacting the community in three distinct ways
Families are the core of every community, and seemingly in every community today families are in trouble. Some believe that the rural areas have been able to avoid the many issues facing urban and suburban communities. Yet even in a small village like Convoy, “big city” problems (drugs abuse, neglected children, lack of job opportunity, increasing poverty and homeless, etc.) are prevalent. We at the VMC are working to come along side families to show them the hope that is Jesus Christ and demonstrate a life that can overcome the problems we face in this world.
These days, many small communities have become “transitional” communities. The underemployed, the unemployed, single moms and others who often are in crisis situations typically move to Convoy because housing is affordable and rent is cheap. Yet they have no connection to the community and no nearby extended family to lean on for support. They often feel helpless, alone and without hope. Following the example of our Savior, we at the VMC want to be a friend to those in need. We believe the Spirit of Lord truly empowers people and changes lives. We seek to share God’s saving power with the people of Convoy.
At the VMC we believe faith in Jesus Christ is what strengthens families and empowers people. We are here not to preach but to demonstrate the reality of God’s love for all families and for all people, regardless of skin color, financial situation or social position. Faith in Jesus is what we know; and it’s what we encourage in everyone who walks through our door.
